DP Gachagua Meets KTDA Stakeholders.

At his official residence in Karen, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called a meeting with the directors and stakeholders of the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) for today, Wednesday, July 27.

The meeting's main topic is how to make this year's tea growers' bonuses better.

The DP expressed his happiness with the encouraging improvements in the tea industry in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Direct interaction with farmers and other stakeholders, with a focus on evaluating and approving the audited financial records for the year ending June 2023, was credited by him as the cause of the improvement.

"We will continue to use this strategy to advocate for greater compensation for the nation's roughly 750,000 small tea growers. "Continuous engagement and service to farmers is essential to maximizing their earnings," Gachagua said.

Sugarcane Farmers To Receive Their Dues Before December- President Ruto

 President William Ruto has now stated that the government will pay sugar cane farmers who have yet to receive their dues, as part of plans to revitalize sugar companies in the Nyanza region that are facing financial difficulties. The Head of State, on a four-day tour of Luo Nyanza, said the farmers will be paid their dues before December and vowed to deal ruthlessly with the individuals behind Kenya's sugar mess.  "I know sugar companies here owe farmers some Ksh.860.M, I will go look for that money, and we will be back here to pay farmers before December," he said.  At the same time, he stated that the government would announce a new course of action for the sugar companies, pointing out that a government bailout will not provide a long-term solution. The High Court has nullified a decision made by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) which had previously reprimanded six TV stations for their coverage of live demonstrations organized by Azimio Chief Raila Odinga in March of this year.
