Governor Kimani Wamatangi disclosed that the land in question spans approximately 720 acres across the county. Individuals currently occupying this land and facing the risk of losing it will receive formal notifications through a public notice published in local newspapers.
The County Boss mentioned that the affected parties will have a 60-day period to submit their documents for examination by the relevant government agencies.
Wamatangi made this announcement at the County headquarters while receiving six title deeds for public land that were voluntarily surrendered to the National Land Commission. These ownership documents were handed over by Mr. Molu Harake, the NLC County Coordinator.
The Governor emphasized his administration's commitment to protecting public land from unscrupulous individuals who have been taking advantage of it. He urged those who had acquired public land illegally to return it voluntarily to the public before facing legal consequences.
During today's event, the Governor also received title deeds that had been recovered by the DCI. The reclaimed land included an open area in Ting'ang'a, which had been designated for a cattle dip, a spring, and the establishment of a market.
Wamatangi expressed gratitude to the NLC and DCI for their support in recovering the land, noting that the collaborative efforts were yielding positive results.
