Nyamira MCAs Table Motion To Kick Governor Amos Nyaribo Out Of Office.
A motion seeking the removal of Governor Amos Nyaribo of Nyamira was presented to the Nyamira County Assembly on Tuesday. Josiah Mang’era, a Member of County Assembly (MCA) representing Esise, tabled this motion, citing nine grounds for Governor Nyaribo's potential impeachment, including allegations of abuse of office.

On the day of the motion's presentation, the Nyamira County Assembly faced a heightened security presence, as the assembly entrance had been barricaded with stones by unidentified individuals the previous night. The main source of contention was the introduction of an impeachment motion against Governor Nyaribo.
Nevertheless, despite the tense atmosphere, approximately 30 MCAs managed to access the assembly chambers, where the motion for Governor Nyaribo's impeachment was formally introduced.
Mang'era stated, "I hereby submit a motion for consideration, debate, and approval of the removal of Governor Nyaribo, as per Article 111 of the Kenyan Constitution and Standing Orders number 62."
In his motion, the MCA leveled nine accusations of abuse of office against Governor Nyaribo. These allegations encompassed the misuse of public funds, favoritism, irregular staff recruitment, and the false flagging of empty containers disguised as medical supplies, among others.
Minda Riech, the Minority leader of the Nyamira County Assembly, asserted, "We have presented our evidence and have witnesses who will assist us in building our case. Our actions are not driven by personal motives against the governor but stem from our sense of responsibility as leaders. Nyamira is the only place where functional street lights seem to be nonexistent."
With the motion now formally tabled, all eyes turn to the Members of the County Assembly, who are scheduled to engage in a debate and vote on the motion the following Tuesday. Their decision will determine whether Governor Nyaribo remains in office or faces impeachment.
